As many RVer’s know space is a premium in a camper. Here are 5 tips we used to help organize the space and items in our fifth wheel:
The Kitchen Area
In the Kitchen area we utilized the wall as an area of organization. We created a back splash using Broan NuToan stainless steel panels. The panels were first cut to size using metal tin snips, and then adhered to the wall using Fuze It and a few screws. The stainless steel backsplash not only added a touch of modern to our camper but it allowed the placement of magnetic spice racks and a magnetic knife rack. Both of these items helped free up some of the drawer and closet space as this was where the knives and spices were originally kept.
Cabinet Area
Closets are another area where space is limited and to maximize this area we used two different Items.
The first item used in our closets are extendable shelves. The shelves were very simple to install. They simply slide apart and are held into place by tension. These shelves help organize by adding more space for stacking.
The second item we used in the closets are slidable racks. These require a little more to install but the process is still fairly simple. The racks we purchased required some assembly and then once assembled, they are screwed to the floor of the closet. In our camper we use one of the slidable racks to house our coffee maker. This makes it easy to slide in and out without having to take it down and put it away every time we pack up. In one of the other closets we use a tiered slidable rack that helps with organization and makes it easier to grab food items.
Bedroom Area.
In the bedroom area we added a wall organizer. The wall organizer is installed in the wall with hooks that are screwed into the wall. We use this organizer to hold clothes, shoes, towels or any other items that we want to access fairly easy. This will help free up some of the closet space.
Custom Bar
A final organizational idea we use, is in the custom bar area. We prefer to drink our adult beverages from real glasses. So to prevent the glasses from breaking while towing the camper and to add some organization, we secured them into foam. We used two inch thick foam. After cutting the foam to fit the area where the glasses are placed, we traced and cut out spaces for each individual glass. This has worked really well to organize the glasses and we have not had one break yet.
These are just a few of the organization ideas we use. We would love to hear opinions and any ideas of what you have used. Please feel free to leave a comment on ideas that you use or have. We would love to hear from you.
