Yes, another year has flown by and its time to start thinking of buying gifts for that RV’er family member or friend in your life. If you are stuck on what to get them, or are wondering what they could use, here are 5 small gift ideas that are under $20, that are handy for any RV’er. (Disclaimer: These items were under $20 at the time of writing the article, please click the pictures or links for the latest prices.)
Camco Easy Reach Awning Opener: This device allows you too easily open your awning. Before I purchased one of these, I had the long, archaic metal rod which was very cumbersome to get in and out of our storage. This devise is telescoping and will extend from 11.5 inches, to 47 inches, which allows the user to reach the awning lever and strap. When folded to 11.5 inches it makes for much easier storage than the long metal rod previously mentioned.
Box of Fuses: As simple and cheap as these sound, I love them and can never have to many. Over the years of RVing, I can’t tell you how many fuses I have blown, and there is nothing worse than having a fuse blow with no replacement. Maybe it’s only happened to me, but since it has, I now keep several boxes in my fifth wheel at all times. Again, it may be a simple gift, but I know they are very useful and hey, they are colorful as well!
LED rechargeable headlamp: A headlamp is a must for any RV’er. If they don’t own one, they will be sure glad they got one as a gift. They help make any set up and take down in the dark a lot easier. These are nice because they are rechargeable and there is not a need to replace batteries. When I purchased them it was under $20 for two two and well under $20 for just one. Since they are rechargeable, I opted to go with the two package, that way one set can be charging while I am using the other.
Hourleey Brass Water Pressure Regulator with Gauge: This may not be a total necessity; however, it is a great little piece of insurance. Most campgrounds that we stay at have decent regulated water pressure, but there is the occasional one that may have higher pressure than normal. This device will keep the pressure below 50 psi which will save the RV water pipes from bursting if there happen to be a really high pressure. This one is under $20, but if you feel the need to splurge you can get an adjustable pressure regulator for about $10 more.
The Ultimate RV Log Book: For the RV’er that loves to journal or keep records of where they have been, this book is for them. This book helps to keep track of what places they have visited. It contains a list of National Parks and has campground information page, where you can keep detailed records of what each site has to offer. It even contains a section to annotate RV maintenance.
These are just some of the under $20 gift ideas that I thought would be practical for any RV’er. I would love to know your thoughts, or if this sparked any other gift ideas. Please feel free to comment below.
